8 Dallas Skate Spots to Shred When It Rains

There’s nothing worse than putting on your skate shoes or strappin’ on your blades only to find the sky has darkened and the ground is soaked. It’s a bit rainy where I am in the DFW area today so I thought I’d put together a small list of spots I’ve done on the Urban Skate Spots series you can use today or on a future rainy day. As I add more spots on my YouTube, I’ll probably make a follow up to this article in the future. Let’s get into it though. As Dr. Phil always says in his intro:

Plano Gas Meter Gap

In our very first episode ever, we skated a spot in Plano that you can skate when it rains, but technically just half. The gap and stairs go out to an uncovered portion of the skate spot where rain can reach, but the bump up and DIY area can be fully skated during a storm. This is unless the storm is extremely windy and blowing sideways, then you’re kinda screwed.

Quorum Place Parking Garage

This garage is perfect for skating when it rains with a waxed up super low curb, manual pad, and more flatground than you can stomach in one sesh. It sometimes gets puddles, but you can easily skate around them. The kickoff here is non-existent too so it’s a great spot!

Location: 14901 Quorum Dr. Dallas, TX 75254

Alliance Skatepark

Most know about Alliance Skatepark, but it was definitely worth a mention. Awesome park and awesome staff. Like the first spot, if it’s pretty windy the covered portion of this park can get pretty wet, but generally it’s pretty skateable even in bad weather.

Location: 1002 Lone Star Pkwy, Grand Prairie, TX 75050

Addison Underground

Addison Underground is one of those spots that depending on the day can be an instant kickoff, hours of skating, or somewhere in between. When the Revive team came through I took them there and they wouldn’t even waste their time because of two previous experiences with showing up and instantly getting the boot. I can easily say that besides the bizzaro kickoff potential, this is one of the best spots in Dallas; raining or not. It’s like they built it to be skated as a tease. Ledges have coping while the ones without are all waxed up. Add in some gaps and perfect flatground and you have a perfect rainy day spot, (besides the whole kickoff thing.)

Location: 15305 Dallas North Tollway, Addison, TX 75001

Richardson Campbell Parking Garage

I’ve been skating this dirty, rock-filled garage for years and I never leave disappointed. This place used to have a high kickoff rate back in like 2008, but since then it has mellowed out. There’s manual pads, good flatground as long as you dodge the small pebbles, and fun speed bumps. Bring a rail or box to make this spot into an amazing sesh.

Location: 2000 N Plano Rd, Richardson, TX 75082

4DWN Skatepark

The 4DWN Skatepark really doesn’t need any introduction, but if you haven’t heard of it, it’s an awesome park situated near Deep Ellum and Downtown in south Dallas. It’s owned and operated by the legendary 90’s vert wizard Mike Crum and friends. While there is a bowl, a half pipe, and more outside, the inside is all cement and a really great FREE place to skate when it rains. They also have a skate shop inside and do a bunch of stuff for the community. Just be sure to check out their site and social stuff to double check hours of operation: 4DWN.

Location: 2633 Ferris St, Dallas, TX 75226

Richardson Petroleum Parking Garage

This garage is a pretty simple parking garage with good flatground, a manual pad, and a small ramp up, (like REALLY low). I generally bring my own rail to spice up the spot, but it’s still fun without. This spot is strange in that if it’s raining you’ll be able to skate, however if it’s the day after it rained or it’s been raining for a few days, this spot will probably have mega puddles due to a messed up roof, so just keep that in mind.

Location: 222 Palisades Creek Dr. Richardson, Texas 75080

Garland Duck Creek A Frame

Lastly, here’s an old favorite by Garland-ites like myself. This spot is fully covered with waxed ledges and picnic tables to play around on. It even boasts a fireplaces for cold, wet nights if you wanna bring some firewood and grills to make the boys some hotdogs mid-sesh. The ground is super smooth too. Just watch out for mosquitos since it’s right next to a forest and the occasional birthday party/family cookout that people use the area for - virtually no kick off though unless there’s a random kook there.

Location: 4917 Duck Creek Dr, Garland, TX 75043

I hope you find this list helpful for rainy days. If you’d like to explore all of the skate spots, rain or shine that I’ve mapped, head on over to my Urban Skate Spots Map. Thanks for reading and check out my video below on skating in ALL bad weather!
